Magna Lighting has three facilities located in Belleville, Ontario, totalling more than 300,000 sq ft and employs more than 1,100 people in the Bay of Quinte Region. The Belleville facility produces approximately 3 – 5 million OEM lighting assemblies per year for North America’s Big Three and other vehicle manufacturers around the world.
Exterior lighting on vehicles is not only a central styling differentiator between vehicle brands and models but it also enhances safety through improved vehicle visibility. “It’s a balance of style, practicality and safety.”, says Dean Young, General Manager of Magna Lighting in Belleville. “I believe that the average person would be amazed by the complexity of what it takes to make a light assembly”, he adds.
Dean has been with the company for more than 24 years and feels very fortunate to have such a great career in the Bay of Quinte Region. When asked, what makes it so great to live in and work in this region? He replies, “It’s the people, it’s just a great community filled with dedicated and committed people.” On a personal note, he adds, “Not to mention it’s a four-season playground with endless opportunities of things to do.”
Magna International Inc. recently announced a $35 million investment in the Magna Lighting division in Belleville which will create 100 new jobs.
